Martial Arts Biography

I have been practicing martial arts since I was 6 years old and have been teaching various martial arts for over 34 years.  My martial arts journey has given me experience in several disciplines including Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai Kickboxing, American Kickboxing, Boxing, Marine Corps LINE Combat System, Tang Soo Do, Hapkido, Aikido, American Kenpo, Ninjutsu, Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and a variety of Pilipino Martial Arts (Stickfighting).

I have been studying, teaching, and competing in stickfighting/weapons for over 29 years and currently hold a 6th Degree Black Belt ranking in Visayan Legacy Eskrima as well as a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.  I have been competing in GSBA and WEKAF style full contact stickfighting since 1997 and have 23 World Championsjips (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2024) in single and double full contact stickfighting, sayaw/forms, padded engagement single and multiple weapons, and team full contact stickfighting divisions.  I am also a Hardened Target certified instructor.

My Philosophy

My philosophy in life as in martial arts is all about the self-discipline that drives the body, mind, and spirit.  As a martial arts practitioner, I believe that people must be able to empty their cups before they can truly learn anything, and in doing so, can immerse themselves in the arts with an open mind.  I place an emphasis on the respect, diligence, competitive spirit, and pride that the arts evokes from a practitioner.  The focus should be on learning, sharing, and the propagation of the  arts.

I currently teach and train Visayan Legacy Eskrima in Bellevue, WA.
